I call this the
library chair because it feels right when holding
a book. And it looks good in a home library or
study or beside a desk. Upright, good lumbar back
support, nice arms to support a book. An all
wood-chair, it is deceptively comfortable. No,
you won't fall asleep in this chair, but you
don't want to when reading. Most of the time,
anyway.
The chair looks
good in cherry as shown here or in black walnut.
Also a lighter tiger maple spindle can be
ordered. This chair won the prestigious NICHE
Award for design in 2000.
The chair features
curved arms and a crest rail that is cut in two,
rejoined, then shaped into a moderate curve . The
spindles have the elongated S shape I use on many
of my pieces for ergonomic support.
Cherry with
cherry spindles.
